It is with great pride that I inform you that the State of Nevada has recently enacted a law giving official recognition of the more than 150 years of invaluable contributions made by Asian immigrants to the founding, development and continuing prosperity of the great State of Nevada. It has now been codified that on the 18th day of May each year, that the Governor shall execute a "Proclamation" identifying that day as "Asian Culture Day".
Asian Culture Alliance, a Nevada "Non-Profit" corporation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a Tax Exempt entity under Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, has celebrated Asian Culture Day since 2015. In fact, it was our founder and president Mr. Cavin ...Fung who first identified the lack of official recognition of Asian immigrants of all nationalities notwithstanding a detailed historical record of Asian contributions predating Nevada becoming the 34th State of the Union in 1864 and that continues to this day. Mr. Fung brought this lack of recognition to the attention of State Senator Hammond who drafted the legislation, secured the support of fellow Senators and members of the State Assembly in what was originally identified as Senate Bill No. 175 of 2017, that was ultimately signed into law by Governor Sandoval.
Officially commencing on May 18th, Asian Culture Alliance's Asian Culture Day Celebration Committee is planning a four (4) day celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada. The celebration will include numerous State and local government officials and will be a multi-national event with over (10) Asian nation's Consulates having expressed their interest in direct participation and sponsorship. The event is designed to encourage Asian nations to exhibit national artifacts that represent the historical, cultural and artistic nature of their peoples over the centuries. Accomplishments to civilization that have contributed to their national identity and contributed to the world in the fields of art, calligraphy, ceramics, fashion, food, music, sculpting and theater.
In addition to static exhibitions, we are planning a "Show of Shows" where performers from the various nations will demonstrate their skills in dance, rituals, ceremonies and acrobatics with the viewing audience voting for the awarding of trophies in each category of participation that each performer so awarded will be proud to display.
